Background:
Victoria Mueni Kituku was born on 15th June, 2003. She is 8 years old. Her mother passed away the same year she was born, and her father, the following year. She lives with her 70+ year old grandmother and 6 siblings. She is now in standard 3 and in her last exam, she was position 21 out of 41 kids in her class.
On their 1 acre piece of land, they plant maize, beans and trees. The grandmother is too old to support the children so the eldest boy and girl are the ones who take care of the family. They look for casual work where they can get, and also sell excess farm produce.
They live in their late parents’ house and Victoria shares a bed with 3 of her siblings. Their beddings are dirty and not enough for all of them. Her wish list includes textbooks, 2 beds, 2 mattresses, beddings, clothes, shoes, toiletry, uniform and school fees. This can be fulfilled with a $187 donation.
